Shade

I just edited a book called Shade, an anthology of graphical stories where artists of diverse points of the world portrait, in form of original and self-conclusive comics, different points of view in the contemporary comic world. Shade is presented as an only issue with the works of professional, semiprofessional and amateur comic authors whose diversity of graphical and narrative styles is showed throughout all the volume.

The book has 160 pages and contains 8 comics done by 7 artists from Spain, Italy and United States. The size is 15x21 cm, high quality printed in black & white, softcover. The artists that show their works in this issue are: Hokane, Van Duran, Studio Kawaii, Lia Fiengo, Maria Abagnale, Ruui Eyvm and Cris Ortega.

The anthology will be for sale at the Manga Convention of Barcelona (Spain, 29-31 october and 1 november), in Norma stores (Spain) and also for all the world in internet in a website of the book, where you can also find information and samples: Shade website.

In this anthology I did not only the design and edition, but also several works:

- comic The Valley of Olives, a love/angst story, 15 pages.

- comic Reflections, an horror story, 45 pages

- script for the comic Freaking Zombies, draw by Hokane, humor story, 11 pages.

Acabo de editar un libro llamado Shade, una antología de relatos gráficos donde artistas de diversos puntos del mundo retratan, en forma de historias originales y autoconclusivas, diferentes puntos de vista en el mundo del cómic contemporáneo. Shade se presenta como un número único en el que se reunen autores profesionales, semiprofesionales y amateur, cuya diversidad de estilos gráficos y narrativos queda patente a lo largo de todo el volumen.

El libro contiene 160 páginas con 8 cómics realizados por 7 artistas de España, Italia y Estados Unidos. El formato es de tamaño 15x21 cm, con muy alta calidad de impresión en blanco y negro, encuadernado en rústica. Los artistas que participan en este número son: Hokane, Van Duran, Studio Kawaii, Lia Fiengo, Maria Abagnale, Ruui Eyvm y Cris Ortega.

La antología estará a la venta en el Salón de Manga de Barcelona (29-31 octubre y 1 noviembre), en tiendas Norma Cómics y en internet a través del website del libro, donde también podréis encontrar información y muestras: Shade website.

En esta antología no sólo realizo el diseño y la edición, sino que también participo con varios trabajos:

- cómic El Valle de los Olivos, una historia de amor y drama, 15 páginas.

- guión del cómic Freaking Zombies, dibujado por Hokane, historia de humor, 11 páginas.

Cuando doblan las campanas

Let me tell you something curious :). Before I began to work as illustrator, I spent my free time writing. For some years I writed several stories, most of them short horror stories, since that is my favourite genre. I enjoyed it very much and won some prizes. Right now I continue to write when I have some time.

My first comic, done in 1999, was an adaptation from a short story that I writed in 1996. The title was Cuando doblan las campanas (the translation would be When the bells sound) and it's a vampire's story. It's very old and has a lot to improve, but if you're curious, you can read the story HERE (it's only in spanish).

I also have some images that I did at the time, to go with the story.

Como nota curiosa, os contaré que antes de empezar a trabajar en el mundo de la ilustración, dedicaba mi tiempo a la escritura. Durante unos cuantos años escribí varias historias, la mayoría de ellas relatos cortos de terror, ya que este era y es mi género favorito. Me gustaba bastante y gané algunos premios. Ahora mismo sigo escribiendo cuando dispongo de algún tiempo libre.

Mi primer cómic, realizado en 1999, fue una adaptación de un relato corto que escribí en 1996. El título era Cuando doblan las campanas, una historia de vampiros. Es muy antigua y bastante mejorable, pero si tenéis curiosidad, podéis leerla AQUI.

También realicé algunas imágenes por aquél entonces como acompañamiento del relato.

                                                

Itaii Itaii

At the end of october I edited a limited special issue of Itaii Itaii for the X Manga Convention of Barcelona. Itaii Itaii is a spanish magazine that contains yaoi comics and doujinshis (that means, works that contains relationships between males) from several authors and this is the third issue published.

For this issue I did the design and edition, the cover and a comic of original script titled Interferences (from 2008 the comic is available to download for free here).

The issue has sold out during the Manga Convention, so it's not possible to find a copy now. If you want to know more about Itaii Itaii, you can check their webpage.

A finales de octubre edité un número especial de Itaii Itaii para el X Salón de Manga de Barcelona. Itaii Itaii es una revista española que contiene cómics y doujinshis yaoi (esto es, trabajos que muestran relaciones entre hombres) realizada por varios autores y que ya lleva tres números publicados.

Para este número he realizado el diseño y la edición, además de la portada y un cómic de guión original titulado Interferenes (a partir del 2008 el cómic está disponible para descargar gratis aqui).

El número especial se ha agotado durante el Salón de Manga, de modo que ya no es posible encontrar ninguna copia. Si queréis saber más sobre Itaii Itaii, podéis visitar su página web.

Magic Circle / Círculo Mágico

Magic Circle was the title of one of my first comic series. Back at 2001 I did a pilot chapter titled The bloodiest sword that was published by Wham Comics (USA), and later serialized on Minami magazine (Spain). It was a success at the time, and I was asked for more chapters, but I had more serious projects and didn't have enough time for it. Who knows if I will be able to work on them in the future ^__^.

I also did the sketch of a few pages for a second chapter that I rejected later. That pages show some other principal characters, since in the pilot I only showed two of them. The series are on hiatus, but you can check on the pages that I did for that second chapter.

Círculo Mágico era el título de una de las primeras series de cómics que realicé. Allá en el 2001 dibujé un episodio piloto titulado La espada ensangrentada, que fue publicado por Wham Comics (USA) y más tarde por entregas en la revista Minami (España). Fue un éxito en aquél momento y me solicitaron más capítulos, pero tenía otros proyectos más serios y por falta de tiempo tuve que dejarlo. Quién sabe si algún día podré volver a trabajar en ello ^__^.

También realicé unas páginas abocetadas para un segundo capítulo que más tarde rechacé. Esas páginas muestran algunos de los otros personajes principales, ya que en el piloto sólo aparecían dos. La serie está aparcada indefinidamente, pero podéis echar un vistazo a las páginas que hice para aquél segundo capítulo.
